| Description | When animals or cells are treated with chlorate liposomes, phagocytes will remove liposomes from local tissue or serum by phagocytosis. Liposomes are then able to release clodronate into the cytoplasm, causing cell death. Unencapsulated clodronate cannot cross cell membranes to trigger cell death. |
